Positive interim result for aftercare app for heart transplantation

A new smartphone app enables patients in Heidelberg to access their electronic patient file after a heart transplant, check laboratory values, view findings and read administrative documents.
A special feature of the app is that it is integrated into the health and patient file (PEPA) at the University Hospital of Heidelberg. All data protection and data security requirements have been implemented according to the hospital.
The one-year trial phase was very positive. “Our patients are well acquainted with their disease; they are often rather young patients who have a very close relationship with our clinic,” said a spokesperson. Therefore, the app is now to be rolled out in other clinics as part of the offer.
