Implant-Register ? ? ?

Implants help humans in many ways and are welcome to improve life conditions for people desiring reconstructions or corrections of their human tissue as well as transmitting purposes. However, an implant is more than just any replacement part. It becomes part of an individual person. That is why it requires our special attention. There are estimated more than 10.000 different implants known, to be incorporated in human bodies and this number still is growing.
The Implant Registry aims to bring together all those affected and interested, for the benefit of all. This includes patients, doctors, manufacturers, scientists and others.

Some implant materials are like foreign bodies in a human being and do not change into a totally integrated natural structure, some do. The number of these products is most complex and sometimes hard to identify.

All medical products have undergone scientific research and most of them clinical testing. However one has to be aware that these materials may cause problems. The register helps to find explanations and associations of implant solutions. Patients may discover benefits and negatives they didn’t know they had. Producer may find informations to help further developments and avoid double developments. The rules for certification, types of implants and experiences differ in different parts of the world. We believe that in the end all these experiences should be shared. Therefore, the Implant Registry relies on the input of all participants. Implant-Register is the only place one can do so.

Who is the IMPLANT-REGISTER® addressed to?

We do not distinguish the addressed groups as there are patients, doctors, medical staff, authorities, manufacturer, distributor, politicians and all interested people like students or any other. Information about implants is of general interest. So if you have any information – good or bad – let us know.
Experience can be shared here for patients and here for doctors.
Placed implants can be registered by patients and doctors, implant information by companies. Find more in the forms in the footer.

What the IMPLANT-REGISTER® does

It collects

  • implant products
  • implant companies
  • placed implants/patients
  • implanting doctors/clinic
  • scientific societies in implantology
  • information on implants and makes it accessible

It shows information for patients, helping them to understand implant devices. It gives basic informations in its Glossary and Links and it helps finding the right addresses and connections for all interested people. We try, but cannot guarantee to present all information. You can help us, if you miss something. Specific features of the systems are only presented after consulting the producer and checking the credibility of the informations given.

Patients and doctors can register the implants inserted. This allows, among other things, the progress to be monitored, risks that become known later to be communicated or compatible replacement parts to be located. Within certain limits this enables to create statistics, which may help to survey body implants. The more who participate, the greater the gain in knowledge.

The IMPLANT-REGISTER® helps doctors to identify implants. As implants may cause problems, have to be replaced or need additional parts and as they undergo permanent developments, the IMPLANT-REGISTER® helps to find solutions in a shorter time and more reliable.

The IMPLANT-REGISTER® publishes findings, which are found to be important for basic evaluation and which are found on a scientific basis.

What the IMPLANT-REGISTER® does not

It does not replace medical advice through medical personal in individual therapy. It is not meant as scientific literature, but it may lead to it and support scientific work. There is no consulting possible – except the evaluation of statistical data within the registry (more at “how to use”). The responsibility to use any material to be implanted is individual and singular. Only the treating person and the consent found with his patient is determinant to use any material.

It does not show surgical procedures, but if so far there are any links to more surgical informations we advice to consider, if one is ready to see and cope them.

Sometimes patients will be asked to have their implant registered in a registry, which are organized by manufacturer, societies and states. You´ll find them in the registry of registries, which is globally unique. Implant patient registries allow to collect big data volumes. They show what works or not in a statistical view, but they do not explain why.  The benefit arises only in analyzing these data, also in combining them with data from the IMPLANT-REGISTER®.
