Zygomatic implant

Dental

A root-form or cylindric dental implant that has its origin in the region of the former first maxillary molar and its end point encroaches into the zygomatic bone. It is an elder technique starting in the 1970s, coming back around 2015 with the three-dimensional planning tools with more accuracy.

It is used to support a removable denture in the maxilla, if the the alveolar process is atrophied and/or a sinus lift is not possible.
