Titanium oxide

  1. Surface layer of varying surface composition (e.g. TiO2, TiO4) immediately formed upon exposure of pure metallic titanium and titanium alloy to air. This corrosion-resistant layer protects the implant against chemical attack in biological fluids.
  2. Metal oxide blasted on implant surfaces to increase the surface area.
