Registration with the implant register can help you for the following general reasons:

– Your country or medical discipline does not keep a register.
– You want to make sure that you yourself have access to the implant data.
– You didn´t get an implant pass.
– You want your implant to be stored not on a central server but on a local memory.
– You want to be able to access the data securely after moving away, changing doctors, loosing your records or in emergencies.
– You want to be informed when problems are reported.
– You want to have the possibility to note occurrences or problems with your implant in a safe, independent place.
– You want to make a contribution to the scientific evaluation of the implant process (at us,
the data is only passed on anonymously and is not stored online. Only you or an
authorised person (e.g. your doctor) can access the data.

For some areas there are national and specialist implant registers (notably hip endoprostheses and pacemakers), some of which have well-established. Some of these are also kept automatically. Ask whether your implant is already registered in such a register. Then there is no need to register your implant here – unless one of the advantages listed above is a personal reason.

For more information about registration of a special type of your implant, open the pages shown above.

The lifelong registration is subject to a fee (17.85€ incl. VAT/2021). Notices are free of char

Cardiovascular

There are different types of cardiovascular implants and different registries

There are several different registers for cardiovascular implants such as pacemakers and heart valves (you can find them in our register of the registries). You should have an passport about this. If this is not the case, contact your doctor or clinic.

The registration is important to be informed in case of problems or necessary updates of a specific type of implant. Therefore the manufacturers can usually help directly in such cases. This has already proven to work positively.

Only if your implant is not listed in any registry for individual or country reasons, it is useful to do this with us.

Dental

Dental implants usually are not registered

Dental implants cannot be identified directly. The implanting dentist usually makes a digital note of the placed implant or uses labels with a code. In many cases an implant passport is issued, on which the necessary data are listed. It is very important to preserve it.

Problems occur when replacement parts for an implant are needed or the superstructure (i. e. crowns, bridges) has to be renewed. Due to the great variety of implants (the register currently lists more than 760 implants), it can then be difficult to find the right part or a dentist experienced with the system after a change of the dentist or changes on the manufacturer’s side.

Registration may become important, if problems with a certain type of implant or material may become known.

This is where the implant register can help.
